Parents and many other groups are actively lobbying the Texas State Board of Education where more than half of the seats are up for grabs.

The Democratic side is vying to get 4 candidates on the seat while Republican ticket Tim Tuggey is looking to unseat Ken Mercer. Tuggey, an attorney in San Antonio.

The major concern is if the new boards will be able to focus more on the quality of education rather than political agendas.
